// Exposure management
Connect technical findings to affected services so security teams can review exposure in its operational context.
Context
Each finding is linked to the hosts, data stores and identities behind a business service.
Prioritise
Priorities recalculate as access, threats, impact and defences change, instead of following severity scores alone.
Validate
Reachability, configuration and compensating controls are checked before anyone is asked to fix it.
// Overview
Continuous threat exposure management (CTEM) is a five-phase programme for reducing exploitable risk: scoping, discovery, prioritisation, validation and mobilisation. It replaces one-off vulnerability lists with a loop that ranks exposures by real-world risk and confirms each fix.
DataObserve S.A.F.E runs all five CTEM phases in one place. Findings are tied to the business services they affect, ranked by reachability, threat activity, compensating controls and potential financial impact, and only closed once risk reduction is verified.
// Continuous exposure management
Phase 1
Assess asset criticality from business context, data sensitivity and internet exposure, and detect when scope drifts.
// What drives priority
Internet exposure, network position and attack paths.
Active exploitation, public exploits, KEV and ransomware use.
Potential financial impact of each exposure.
Exposures already mitigated drop down the list.
Revenue, data and processes behind each service.
Priorities update as threats and defences change.

Vendor findings linked to the services they support
// Use cases
Cut a backlog of thousands of findings down to the exposures that can actually be reached and exploited.
Catch new cloud workloads and shadow assets as they appear, and pull them into scope.
Give IT a short, defensible list of fixes ranked by business impact, not CVSS alone.
Check whether EDR, WAF, segmentation and identity controls already stop an attack path.
// FAQs
How is this different from vulnerability management?
It starts from the services you run and the impact on them, and validates exploitability before asking for a fix.
Which tools does it connect to?
Your scanners, cloud, endpoint, identity and ticketing tools, through connectors with health monitoring.
What does validation check?
Whether the service is reachable, whether the exploit applies to its configuration, and whether existing controls would stop it.
What are the five phases of CTEM?
Scoping, discovery, prioritisation, validation and mobilisation. DataObserve S.A.F.E supports each phase and loops back to scoping as the environment changes.
Does exposure management replace our vulnerability scanner?
No. It connects to your scanners and other security tools, then deduplicates, contextualises and prioritises what they find.
How are exposures prioritised?
By reachability and attack paths, active exploitation and threat intelligence, compensating controls, asset criticality and potential financial impact, recalculated as conditions change.
